Brow map and shape
30 minWe measure the brow against your face, draw the line, then shape to it with tweezers or thread. Where most first visits begin.
Brow bar, downtown Hartford
Arch is three brow artists at one counter on Pratt Street. Shaping, tint and lamination, each timed to the minute, so a lunch break is enough. We are taking new clients.

The brow menu
Pick the technique, then the visit that fits your break. Every service lists how long it takes, and a deposit holds your chair.
A line drawn to your face, then shaped to it. Choose how the hair comes off.

Hair by hair, along a line you already have. A tidy-up between maps.
A looped cotton thread lifts the hair in short rows along the brow line, then tweezers finish the edge.
Warm wax and a wooden spatula for the hair around the brow, then tweezers to set the line.
Color brushed on the brow hair to deepen it, left to develop and wiped away.
A tint for the brow hair on its own, usually added to a shape or booked between them.
A tint with a light tweezer tidy of the stray hairs, for the weeks between shapes.
A shape along your line, then a tint to finish, in one visit.
A first visit with color: we map and shape first, then tint to match.
Brow hair brushed up and set in place with a lifting treatment, with the edges shaped after.
Lifting and setting products, a spoolie and patience: the hairs are brushed up and set in place, then the edges are tidied. Clients usually return every six to eight weeks.
Lamination, then a shape along your line with tweezers or thread.
Lamination with a tint to finish, in one longer visit.
The full visit: lamination, a shape and a tint. Book it on a day with room around it.
Prices are set by the artist you book and show on the booking page. A deposit holds your time and goes toward your service.

Your break
Every service lists its time, so you can match a visit to the break you have.
Tweezers, thread or wax along a line you already have, or a tint on its own.
A map first if it is your first visit, then a shape and a tint to finish.

Our artists
Book by technique, by the hours she works or by name. Each artist is a licensed esthetician.

Owner and lead artist
Ebonee opened Arch for clients who can only come on a lunch break, and built the menu around the time each service takes. She maps every first visit and does most of the laminations. Tuesday to Saturday.

Artist
Kemar takes tint and lamination, and the clients who want both in one visit. He keeps the late chair on Thursday. Wednesday to Saturday.

Artist
Yarelis shapes with thread and wax, and keeps the weekday lunch chairs for regulars on a four-week rhythm. She speaks Spanish. Monday to Friday.
A brow visit is priced by what the work needs, and the booking page shows the price before you pay.
Your price comes from the technique, the time the visit takes and the level of the artist you book. A map takes longer than a tidy-up, and lamination takes longer than either.

Mapping a first visit
Your artist's level
A first visit starts at the mirror. Your artist looks at the hair you have, draws the line she would shape to, and talks through tint or lamination before any of it begins. Nothing starts until you agree.
Our three artists work at two levels: lead and artist. Both are licensed estheticians. The lead takes first-visit maps and laminations, and each level has its own prices, shown when you book.
A deposit holds your chair and goes toward your service. The menu marks every service that takes one, and the booking page shows it before you pay.
We ask for 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a visit, and your deposit moves with you. With shorter notice the deposit stays with the studio.
A tint added to a shape, or a shape added to lamination, is priced by the time it adds. Your artist says so before she starts, and you can say no.
Tips are welcome and never expected. Add one when you pay at the end of your visit and it goes to the artist who did your brows.
Gift cards come in any amount and work with any artist for any technique. The booking page shows how to use one and when it ends.
Questions
Shaping sets the line and removes the hair outside it. Tint deepens the color of the hair you have. Lamination brushes the hairs up and sets them. Many clients combine two. Book a map and shape for a first visit and your artist will talk it through.
Most clients book a shape every four weeks, a tint every four to six, and lamination every six to eight. Every brow follows its own schedule, so your artist will suggest a rhythm after your first visit.
Yes, before a first tint or lamination, at least 48 hours ahead. It shows how your skin responds. It helps, but it can't predict every reaction, so tell us about allergies, eczema or sensitive skin around the brow.
We hold your chair for 10 minutes. After that the visit is shortened, not extended, because the next client is booked. A short visit is still a visit, and the deposit is not returned for the time you missed.
A deposit holds your chair and goes toward your service. The menu marks every service that takes one, and the booking page shows it before you pay. If you cancel with 24 hours' notice, the deposit moves to your next visit.
We start at the mirror: your artist looks at the hair you have, measures the brow against your face and draws the line before she touches a hair. Then she shapes to it, and tint or lamination follows if you chose it.
