Tint

Color for the hair you have, after a patch test

A tint deepens the brow hair and softens a sparse look at the edges of the line. We tint where state rules allow it, always after a patch test, and your artist will not tint a brow with a reaction or a broken skin.

What happens, step by step

    Step 1: Choose the shade

Your artist matches the color to your hair and skin and mixes it on a dish.

    Step 2: Protect the skin

A barrier goes around the brow, and she brushes the tint along the hair only.

    10 min

    Step 3: Develop

The color sits for a few minutes while she watches the shade. She can wipe it off at any time.

    Step 4: Wipe and check

The tint comes away, the brow is cleaned and both sides are compared.

Good to know

Before, between and after

  • Before you book

Book a patch test at least 48 hours ahead for a first tint. Tell us about allergies, sensitive skin or any reaction to hair dye. If you have a cut, rash or irritation at the brow, please wait.

  • How often

Clients often tint every four to six weeks, usually with a shape. Hair color fades over time, and your artist can tell you when yours is ready for another.

  • Aftercare

Keep the brow dry for the first 24 hours, and skip exfoliating products and heavy oils on it for two days. Tell us if the skin burns, swells or turns red.

Questions

Two questions we hear

Do I need a patch test?

Yes, before a first tint or lamination, at least 48 hours ahead. It shows how your skin responds. It helps, but it can't predict every reaction, so tell us about allergies, eczema or sensitive skin around the brow.

What if I react?

Reactions can happen. If you notice burning, swelling, redness or blurred vision, tell us and call your doctor, and go to urgent care if it is severe. Your artist stops a service whenever you ask.
